Octopus by jjosryo Octopus by jjosryo
FINALLY I have finished a project that wasn't a holiday commission!

I designed this little guy back in 2010, started working on him mid-2012 and well, here we are. :)

I am continuing to try and use realistic painting techniques to portray animals in my glass work, but I may have gotten a little carried away with the suction bits on the tentacles. They were my favorite part.

Stained and painted glass with globs
Copper foil technique

Nice one..this fun having octopus. I see you used "grisaille" for shadowing. This technique would be helping out in the light parts of the tentacles and even used for those suction bits. Try this out for once: Take a piece of glass. Paint your lovely bits of circles and bake it in the oven. Then put grisaille on it and "dot" the light parts away in those circles (even with a small pointed wooden stick you can draw in the grisaille) and light part of the tentacle itself. Will give you more texture, depth and easy to do. Just a "hint"..not a critic.. ;)
