I was online one day searching for glass, and I came across something known as SilverCoat. As soon as I saw it, the only thing I could think of was the event horizon of an active Stargate. So there we go. n.n Had to do it.
This is my final project for Stained Glass IV, among various other fusing side projects. This was my first encounter with lead, used on the outside.
Each symbol is hand painted, as are the lines in the larger outer pieces. 39 symbols and 9 larger painted pieces- 2 firings and about 5-6 hours of work. Give or take over the span of a week.
I was hoping that the red glass would be the only thing that lit up when in light, and I was pleasantly surprised.
Very happy with this.
...some of the backing on the SilverCoat was scarped off, because of microscopic glass shards left on tables
, so a friend suggested I color in the spots on the back with a silver marker.
Did the trick!
